FAQ – Training Visa

Not if you are a national of Afghanistan, Cuba, Laos, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Nepal or Vietnam.  For Chinese residents of the Mainland, the employer must be a Hong Kong-based business associates of a well-established and multi-national company.  In any case, you shall not have a record of serious crime.

You can stay in Hong Kong for a training period of up to 12 months.

Hong Kong Immigration Department has not set out any procedural provision on any renewal of Training Visa.

No.  A person admitted to Hong Kong with a Training Visa must leave before the expiry of his/her Training Visa.

Yes, you may apply (in your visa application or subsequently) for your spouse or lawful domestic partner (same-sex or opposite-sex) and unmarried dependent children under the age of 18.  Some restrictions on applicant’s nationality apply.

Yes, they can study and take up employment in Hong Kong without any prior approval.

  • Photocopy of training contract showing title, salary, benefits and training duration
  • Photocopy of Certificate of Business Registration
  • Photocopy of proof of financial standing
  • Documents indicating company background 
  • Detailed business plan for companies set up within 12 months
  • Completed Form ID 992A with recent photo affixed on page two
  • Photocopy of valid travel document
  • Photocopy of Hong Kong identity card, if any
  • Photocopy of proof of academic qualifications and relevant working experience
  • Photocopy of Macao identification card (for Macao residents only)
  • Photocopy of household registration in Taiwan and Taiwan identification card (for Taiwan residents only)
  • Part B of the form ID 990A completed 
  • Photocopy of valid travel document 
  • Photocopy of evidence of relationship with the applicant such as marriage certificate, birth certificate
  • Photocopy of Macao identification card (for Macao residents only)
  • Photocopy of household registration in Taiwan and Taiwan identification card (for Taiwan residents only)
